Most companies start with an idea, but where does that idea come from……..a personal experience? Perhaps more often than not an experience is the beginning of an idea which ultimately becomes a business. Josh Banks of Salt Lake City, Utah has had many experiences in his profession that has lead to the development of Armed Work Wear www.armedworkwear.com Years of being in the construction industry became a breeding place for ideas to make the job better…..easier…..and a product that created convenience for others in construction. Sure….there are many brands out there making clothes for construction workers, however how many people truly understand the problems conventional clothes cause in this profession? Clothing designers may have one idea in mind, but someone from the trade probably has another idea that more strongly applies to his or her day to day job. Josh knew what his clothes needed to do when he was on a job by himself or with a crew. He began a crusade to make his job easier and his crew more efficient. This was just the beginning of Armed Work Wear and its customer base.

Josh knew early on that the product should not be driven by price, but rather quality…..accessibility…..and having applications. Many construction workers are plagued with carrying around all kinds of tools, however it is not always easy to have those tools harnessed to your clothing. Being on your knees and not having some kind of padding can create discomfort while working. This was an “Aha” moment for Josh, but it didn’t just stop there. The rough work that comes along with the construction industry means durability has to be part of the overall recipe.

Not only has Armed Work Wear developed a product line that makes working in the field easier, but it has fashion appeal. From critical pockets…..to knee pads for comfort……looking good on the job and off the job all play into the overall product. Even the posers of the world are starting to wear the pants and hoodie for reasons that they are not even intended for. As a result Armed Work Wear has become a brand…with a loyal following…..all started by someone who has seen time out in the field. Josh knew a product had to exist that met the needs of his crew and others out in the same industry.

It is safe to say personal experience does often spark an idea that ultimately does become a reality. Josh Banks took his years of experience with construction crews and developed products that work……have helped the industry….and most important have provided a solution. The best brands are formed by those that focused on a problem and have taken the time to solve a riddle. Not to mention Josh and his wife have helped nurture an idea into the beginnings of a national brand.

Welcome to our blog. Armed Work Wear isn't just a business selling the best work pants on the market — we are painters, family, designers, and more. Read about what makes us unique... [read more]

Armed Work Wear is a little bit of everyone. We are a family, we are a business, we are painters, DIYers, contractors, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, designers, and we are underdogs of our industry. We are a very small company trying to make the construction industry a bit safer, healthier, comfortable and efficient with our unique designed work pants with built in knee pads. I have been in the construction industry my whole working life, more specific in the painting industry for the last 17 years. I paint part time currently to help keep this dream of ours going. I work on all types of painting projects and also we are slowly, very slowly remodeling our small bungalow in Salt Lake City Utah with my wife and new 2 month old son. I will be writing a blog article once a month. I am new at this, but hopefully I’ll get better. I will be talking about all kinds of things from my personal rants, to painting, to construction projects. Please feel free to contact me any time at josh@armedworkwear.com.

This next year we plan on adding cool, useful, unique products to our product line. We will always try to have them made in the U.S.A. Some of the product ideas are shorts with built in kneepads, an innovative putty knife, womens’ work wear, and cut bucket handles. And, hopefully we can get ideas from our customers!!

I just finished up painting an exterior metal trellis. Thank goodness the weather was good. Usually you can’t paint exteriors this time of year. I will be starting a new project next week and I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks for reading about us, and until next time… “ It’s not work, it’s war”!!
